Estate Planning

Do you need help planning for the future?
  • Probate
  • Wills
  • Living Trusts
  • Power of Attorney
  • Advanced Health Care Directive
It is important to have a will or trust in place to plan ahead for uncertain times. By having a will or trust, you can decide on who inherits or receives your estate and who manages the distribution and estate. Simply said, you decide who gets what and how.
A living trust is a written legal document that places some or all of your asserts in the control a trust during your lifetime.

Advantages of a living trust:
  • Avoid probate (which can drag on for months)
  • You decide who gets what when you pass away
  • You determine the beneficiaries and when and how they receive your assets
  • Assets can be passed during your life or after
  • You can name a trustee to take over the trust's management for your benefit if you become unable to manage it yourself
  • Provides privacy -- Trust not made public (a will is made public)
A will is a legal document where you give instructions to be carried out after your death. These instructions can be on how to distribute your assets and on who will be the guardians of your minor children.

Advantages of a will:
  • You decide who gets what when you pass away
  • You can name the executor who will distribute your assets. Without naming one, the Court will appoint someone
  • Nominate a guardian for your minor children
  • Name someone to take care of the property left for your children until they becomes adults
  • Can be used as a back-up to a living trust or another estate plan

It is important to consult with an attorney when drafting these legal documents. You want to make sure that all your wishes and instructions are properly carried out when you cannot carry them out yourself. Call Hammoud Law today to begin planning for your future.
